Not long after its debut on PC, the new game by Larian will begin conquering the PlayStation 5. Thanks to today's announcement, Sony console owners know when exactly they will be able to download Baldur's Gate 3 on PS5 and start playing on that platform

The team announced (via X/Twitter) that preload of the game for owners of the Deluxe edition will begin on August 31 at 6 p.m. CET (those who chose the standard version will wait four days longer). Formally BG 3 will be made available even a week later, but purchasers of this edition will get access to the game already on September 2, similarly at 6 p.m. CET.

Funnily enough, the new Baldur's Gate will appear in early access right after Starfield and both games will debut for everyone on the same day. So the two titles will compete, as it were, for the attention of RPG fans. Unfortunately, many console gamers will not be able to check out both titles. BG 3 is only heading to PlayStation 5 for now, while Starfield will arrive exclusively on Xbox Series X/S (and, of course, PC).

Either way, Bethesda's work will have a tough battle. The third Baldur is currently the biggest bestseller on Steam, and one of the most popular games on that platform, despite being primarily a single-player adventure (albeit with a co-op mode). Arguably, this huge success and the ubiquitous praise for the developers (and not only them) made Baldur's Gate III one of the best-selling upcoming games on PS5.

Baldur's Gate 3 will be released on September 6 on PlayStation 5, exactly four days after the start of early access.
