HoloCure PC

HoloCure is a free-to-play fan-made roguelike developed by Kay Yu and DuDuLtv, available for download on itch.io. The developers were inspired by such action games as Vampire Survivors and Magic Survival. HoloCure, in fact, resembles a mix of those games.

Plot

The action takes place in the year 20XX, in which a new group of idols began to take their first steps on the Internet. At first people were skeptical about them, but gradually the popularity of vtubers grew, and many people sincerely loved them. Unfortunately, one day an unknown evil force took advantage of the fans' love, brainwashing them and turning them into mindless creatures, blinded by their fascination. In order to survive the increased attack of the zombie-like creatures and free them from the effects of hypnosis, the girls must throw themselves into battle and stop the fans with their unique abilities.

Game mechanics

Our main goal is to fight the hordes of monsters, coming at us from all sides. So we run all over the map, avoiding the oncoming enemies and attacking them with one of our special skills or weapons unlocked.

The element that makes HoloCure unique are the main characters, created on the model of vtubers from the Japanese agency Hololive. We can take control of such virtual creators as Gawr Gura, IRyS and Watson Amelia, among others, in this title. Each girl has her own set of unique powers, which she uses to fight her opponents. The game also features various weapons and items, referring to their streams, expressions or interests. Among the items present in the game are an octopus tentacle, a BL book or a body pillow. Additional variety are hidden mechanics, very helpful during the game.

Hololive English -Myth- characters are available as default characters. More vtubers can be unlocked using the gacha system. The purchase of characters can be carried out using a special currency introduced in the game.

Game modes

There are two game modes in this title: Stage and Endless. At the end of the game, in the first mode, we have to face the final boss. In the second mode, our task is to stay alive as long as possible.

Technical aspects

HoloCure is a game developed with GameMaker: Studio, with a 2D graphics, made in the style of pixel art and Japanese animation. Hololive song remixes, created by Eufrik, were also implemented. A total of 11 members of "HoloEN" were introduced to the initial version of the game, with subsequent updates expanding the group of available characters to include vtubers from "HoloJP" and "HoloID."
